Soulfists are one of the Advanced Classes that fall under the Martial Artist Class. They wield a Focus, which lets them build energy to boost their capabilities while dealing good damage up close and from a distance. However, because of the various Skills they have available, they’re touted as one of the most difficult characters to play in Lost Ark. Oftentimes, Soulfists are a jack-of-all-trades, master of none type of Class because of this.
Highly Difficult Class
Good Burst DPS
Excellent Mobility
Grants Attack Power Buffs
Low Defenses
As a Lost Ark Soulfist, you can deal huge damage when you switch between melee and ranged skills. But she is better suited for players who have enough experience and game knowledge to select the right abilities for the job. Because of the long cooldowns of some of her skills, you have to learn to adapt to manage them well, otherwise, you’ll end up dealing mediocre damage. What’s more is, the Soulfist isn’t limited to inflicting damage as she also grants attack power buffs to the party.
The Lost Ark Soulfist is a Hybrid DPS Class that inflicts massive burst damage. As a Martial Artist, her mobility is top-notch, which helps her get away with poor HP and defenses. However, she can’t be overconfident considering that she also doesn’t have sufficient protection against numerous enemies and crowd control effects similar to the Striker. Being able to break the enemy’s armor while efficiently putting them down is the key for the Soulfist to survive longer in combat. But at least, she has a specific skill to mitigate incoming damage.
All Advanced Classes in Lost Ark have unique Specialties or Identities that differentiate them from the other classes. These can either unleash more damage or enhance the buffs they grant. For the Lost Ark Soulfist, it’s the Hype Identity, which boosts their attack speed and damage while decreasing the cooldown period of their skills, like the Deathblade’s Deathblade Arts. Additionally, entering Hype Mode raises the amount of Ki energy restored that’s necessary to power Normal Skills.
Upon reaching Combat Levels 20 and 30, the Hype level increases, thereby enhancing the self-buffs received. However, at level 3, the duration of this Identity becomes shorter. Once the Soulfist exits Hype Mode, she enters a Meditation State to recover her bearings. After several seconds, she’ll be able to trigger Hype once more.
By the time your Lost Ark Soulfist reaches Level 60, you will have unlocked a total of 19 skills comprised of Normal and Awakening Skills. To add to this, you’ve invested several points into Normal Skills to specialize further by unlocking their respective Tripods. The Tripod System allows players to customize skills in various ways by improving damage or reducing the cooldown of corresponding abilities. In total, you only need 8 skills per character with a select number of tripods. In this section, I’ll cover the essential Normal Skills and tripods you should allocate points into regardless of the playstyle you end up choosing.
Pulverizing Palm – A good skill to engage enemies, especially stronger ones, as it allows the Lost Ark Soulfist to charge towards them to deal damage and to chip away at their armor. What makes Pulverizing Palm much more useful is it grants you and your teammates an attack power or damage buff upon hitting your targets. If you’re playing solo, it’s best to take Ready Attack but if you’re with a group, Fighting Spirit Enhancement is the way to go. Additionally, the rest of the tripods you should concentrate on obtaining are Excellent Mobility to raise the distance you cover and Master Palm Striker to attack with your other palm to deal extra damage.
Lightning Palm – A very versatile skill where you use both of your palms to deal devastating Frontal or Back Attacks while knocking back Normal enemies. Remember to dash towards them before activating Lightning Palm because this requires you to be in point-blank range to effectively inflict considerable damage. The greater the number of enemies you hit, the higher your attack power will be due to the stacking buff provided by the Prepared Attacker Tripod. The next upgrades you ought to choose are Burning Hands and Merciless Hands. This combination allows you to deal Damage over Time (DoT) by burning targets to a crisp and to boost your overall damage, respectively. Even if Lightning Palm’s charge-up time will increase as a result of better damage inflicted, this shouldn’t be a cause for concern since it’s negligible.
Heavenly Squash – Pulverizes enemies into the ground by crushing them with several palms because of Exquisite Attack. In particular, this tripod significantly boosts the damage you deal, impacting multiple targets at once. Heavenly Squash is a good skill to engage them in combat since you can do this from a safer distance. You just have to approach these enemies with caution so as not to give away your initial position. In order to improve the ability’s attack time, you’ll want to get Harsh Training. Meanwhile, to further boost your damage, it’s ideal to choose Hard Hitter although Heavenly Squash’s energy cost will be a bit higher. But you can easily regain energy by entering a higher Hype Mode level.
Flash Step – This is another viable gap closer option on top of Pulverizing Palm. Although you couldn’t break the enemy’s armor with Flash Step, you receive the attack power buff because of the Victory Shout Tripod. You can even improve your damage by activating this skill once more due to Dynamic Dimension. And finally, it’s important to enhance the distance you cover by selecting Excellent Mobility.
Tempest Blast – An excellent ranged damage-dealing skill that allows you to shoot a narrow beam of energy to break armor. What makes Tempest Blast highly effective is the Song of Time Tripod, which lets you temporarily stun enemies. If you’re up against Named or more challenging enemies, you can use this opportunity to move behind them to execute Back Attacks or to create space between the two of you to recover your bearings. Additionally, you can further amplify the damage you inflict against these types of creatures while boosting the skill’s attack distance with Demolition. And finally, make sure to pick Eradication for greater overall damage.
Force Orb – Another powerful ranged skill that lets the Lost Ark Soulfist shoot enemies with a powerful ball of energy. Force Orb is easy to use because you simply have to move your cursor to face your enemies in order to target them properly. To follow through with your first attack and to boost the damage you inflict, you’re going to want to take Surging Wave and Powerful Wave. Lastly, to be able to use the skill more often, it’s essential to take Quick Prep.
Merciless Pummel – Unlocked at Combat Level 36. A melee damage skill, which utilizes punches and kicks to deal increasing damage and to push back Normal enemies. Note that you can change orientations right after your first punch and kick combo. To maximize the damage you inflict with Merciless Pummel, you ought to consider selecting Hard Hitter, Coldhearted, and Double Up. However, with Double Up, you compensate for big damage numbers by raising the skill’s cooldown rate. Remember to situate yourself directly behind enemies to execute Back Attacks so you don’t waste any of the 5 attacks.
Energy Release – Unlocked at Combat Level 50. An excellent multi-functional skill that reduces the damage you and your allies receive. To make Energy Release much more effective, you need to choose Fighting Spirit Enhancement, Tenacity, and Ready Attack. Fighting Spirit Enhancement buffs everyone’s attack power while Ready Attack enhances your own attack power further. And lastly, Tenacity grants Push Immunity.
Should you wish to improve the damage you deal up close, you can substitute any of the damage-dealing skills I talked about for Shadowbreaker. Additionally, you have the option to equip Energy Blast to easily control the direction of your attack while keeping the enemies away from your party.
Shadowbreaker – A very good skill to activate against Push-Immune enemies because of Weak Point Detection and if their HP is equal to or less than 50%, you can inflict greater damage due to Predator. You’re also able to use Shadowbreaker to strike mobs of creatures surrounding you as a means of quelling their attacks while quickly eliminating them altogether because of the 6th Sense Tripod.
Energy Blast – Unlocked at Combat Level 40. Focuses a strong beam of energy to push enemies away from you and your allies. What makes Energy Blast an incredible skill to have is the increasing damage you inflict the longer you hold onto it as well as being able to smoothly control the beam throughout its shelf-life. However, this ability takes a bit of time to set up so you may or may not receive damage in the preparation phase. The best tripods to take note of are Concussion, Tenacity, and Barrage of Blows. This combination raises Energy Blast’s stagger level to high, provides you with Push Immunity to withstand knockbacks, and boosts damage.
In Lost Ark, every Advanced Class unlocks Engravings that allow you to further specialize in your chosen Class as these grant special effects, which you can activate by reading Recipe Books and equipping Accessories and Ability Stones. You’re able to obtain them as random rewards by completing endgame activities such as Chaos and Abyss Dungeons, and Guardian Raids.
In this section, I’m going to talk about Lost Ark Soulfist Engravings, which determine the playstyle you wish to adopt for your character and are class-specific abilities and traits. You gain access to this when you reach higher levels. The 2 Class Engravings available to the Soulfist are Robust Spirit and Energy Overflow. Let’s first discuss the Robust Spirit Class Engraving or playstyle together with the Stats that go with it.
Robust Spirit is a fairly straightforward playstyle in that it allows you to enter Hype Mode level 3 immediately. As such, your Ki energy recovery rate and overall damage are both significantly improved. To maximize the burst damage you deal, it’s best to aim for Robust Spirit Level 3.
In terms of Robust Spirit’s Combat Stats, you’ll want to prioritize Specialization followed by Crit when gearing up. This setup not only enhances Hype Mode but also reduces the time at which you remain in the Meditation State. It also raises your crit rate to deal more damage.
Conversely, Energy Overflow is the less popular playstyle between the two. What happens is you never run out of Ki energy so you’ll always be able to activate Normal Skills. But you don’t restore extra energy, which you would otherwise benefit from. Furthermore, the lesser your Ki energy level is, the better since you’re able to deal greater sustained damage.
In terms of Energy Overflow’s Combat Stats, you’re going to have a similar setup with the Robust Spirit playstyle such that you’ll focus more on Specialization and Crit to improve Hype Mode’s effectiveness as well as your overall damage.
